Tyrone boys capture team title at Bedford (2025)

BEDFORD — The Tyrone boys won the SAC Energy Invitational in Bedford, 108.5-106.5, behind the effort of outstanding jumper Caleb Whitby who broke the meet’s long jump record with a distance of 21 feet, 8 inches.

It was Tyrone’s first boys championship in the meet, previously called the Giant Eagle Invitational, since 2010.

Other award winners on the boys side included Bedford’s A.J. Koontz, tabbed outstanding runner, after winning both hurdles and Alex Polenik of Penns Manor, who won outstanding thrower.

Central’s Jacob Heuston won the 800-meter run in 2:09.19.

Bedford won the girls meet in dominant fashion, 191-99, over Richland. It was Bedford’s fourth girls championship in a row, and Rachel Weber was selected as the outstanding thrower. Somerset’s Kamryn Ross was outstanding runner, and Richland’s Trinity Macey was outstanding jumper.

Tyrone’s Claire Lehman won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.68.

B-A has solid meet

ARMAGH — Jayce Quick won the shot put and the discus for the Bellwood-Antis boys track and field team at the Bill Wilt Memorial Invitational at United High School on Saturday.

Holden Schreier won the 400-meter dash in 52.78, and Cayden Pellegrine won the javelin with a throw of 147 feet, 3 inches.

On the girls side, B-A’s Avey Powers won the 100 hurdles and the long jump.

Emma Taneyhill won the discus with a throw of 97 feet, 4 inches, Blake Pennington won the mile in 5:46.02 and the Lady Blue Devils won the 400 and 1600 relays.
